A shared chess curriculum for your academy.

Teach64 gives academy coaches 363 ready-to-teach sessions: 213 Explorer and 150 Challenger, each in its own course. Sessions include questions, an activity, homework and coach notes. Most also include graded positions.

How one curriculum supports every coach

  1. 01Lesson content

Without a shared curriculum, coaches may choose different topics and practice for the same group.

Included363 sessions across two complete courses: 213 Explorer and 150 Challenger, each with its own sequence.

  2. 02Lesson order

Students may meet a tactic before the skills it builds on when each coach plans a separate course.

IncludedSessions after the first list their prerequisites. The deepest session lists 11.

  3. 03Practice format

Coaches may use different lesson structures, even when teaching the same topic.

Included1,701 lesson parts across Explorer. Most sessions use eight parts in the same order; three tournament-prep and game-analysis sessions use seven.

  4. 04Homework

Coaches need a clear assignment to continue practice between classes.

IncludedHomework is prepared for all 213 Explorer sessions in three forms. Challenger lessons include their own homework.

  5. 05Learning goals

A stated outcome helps coaches know what students should be able to do by the end of a session.

Included1,005 learning outcomes and 10 graded sessions, one at the end of each level.

Every session has a clear objective, a place in the sequence and materials for the coach.

A graded session ends every Explorer level

Each of the 10 levels ends with a graded session. The ten sessions include five checkpoints and five stage graduations. Each uses 8 positions that students have not seen in earlier sessions.

Assessments are part of the curriculum. Each checkpoint includes positions, a pass mark and guidance for students who need another attempt. Coaches can save position bookmarks under student labels; academies keep class and assessment records in their existing system. Students do not have accounts or email addresses.

Help a new coach prepare

A new coach can review the session plan before class: the learning objective, prerequisites, teaching sequence, positions, questions, activity and homework.

Coach notes cover common misconceptions, likely mistakes, teaching tips and ways to simplify or extend the lesson.

Explorer includes these notes in 213 sessions. Challenger includes its own support and stretch guidance.

Keep classes on sequence during coach cover

A substitute coach can use the session plan and notes to see what the lesson builds on and which session follows. The academy can tell them which session the group has reached.

When lesson plans stay with one coach, it can be difficult for another coach to pick up the group's course. Teach64 keeps the sequence, objectives and class materials in each session.

The curriculum gives a substitute a starting point. The coach still adapts the lesson to the students in the room.

One curriculum, two teaching tracks

Choose Explorer or Challenger for each group. A coach can choose the course that matches the group’s readiness. Explorer has 213 sessions and Challenger has 150 in its own sequence. Both cover five stages; choose the course for your group’s readiness.

The tracks change pacing, position selection and game format. Explorer positions use Foundation, Core and Challenge; Challenger adds retrieval warm-ups and optional stretch, so coaches can choose practice that fits the group.

Explorer · ages 5–7

5–8 minute blocks. Foundation and Core build readiness; Challenge is optional independent stretch. Mini-games first, then full games when ready. 213 Explorer sessions.

Challenger · ages 8+

60-minute lessons with practical play. Warm-up, Foundation and Core, then optional independent Challenge stretch. Guided full games from C004; notation from C006. 150 sessions in their own sequence.

Choose a course for each group; use readiness as well as age.

Support during class. Practice after it.
